Volunteer at Filling in the Blanks

Our upcoming parent/child volunteer opportunity is at Filling in the Blanks in Norwalk, CT on Thursday, September 10th at 5:30pm. Parents and children ages 14+ will pack weekend meals bags in the warehouse, assembly-line style. We will kick-off our volunteering with pizza and learning a bit more about the vital work of Filling in the Blanks.

Filling in the Blanks fights childhood hunger by providing children in need with meals on the weekend. They serve 10,000 children per week and deliver 1 million meals per year - directly filling critical hunger gaps. School-based meals are a life-line to thousands of families in Connecticut and New York and weekends create a void in meal access. Since 2013, Filling in the Blanks has helped bridge this overlooked gap.

Additionally, they offer fresh food through their mobile food pantry, which provides fresh produce, meat, and dairy as well as wrap around services. Filling in the Blanks notes that with regular, balanced nutrition, kids’ behavior and academic performance can excel. With each meal delivered, Filling in the Blanks is investing in a stronger future for our community.

Please register HERE for our private volunteer event. Please note that the age minimum of 14 is set by Filling in the Blanks. Additionally, once you register with Willo, you will need to complete a multi-step registration process with Filling in the Blanks, which is clearly outlined in the email you will receive.

If you have younger children, stay tuned because we will be offering other volunteer opportunities. If you aren’t local but are inspired to help, you can donate to Filling in the Blanks or reach out to support your local food pantry.
